The Kindness in This World
"Be Kind"
Kindness in the world often starts with good intentions that aim to avoid cruel or rude behavior while protecting those who are deemed as being vulnerable. This pursuit is admirable and, in many ways, reflects the very heart of God.
After all, God Himself aims to protect the oppressed (Psalm 9:9), the hurting (Psalm 34:18), the hungry (Psalm 146:9), the neglected & outcast (Zechariah 7:9-10), the needy (Psalm 9:18), and the vulnerable/orphaned (Psalm 68: 5-6).
God cares about kindness so much so, that true kindness is
sourced from God's very own Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23). Anyone who wishes to be a more kind person, wishes to pursue a noble characteristic.
However, the enemy who rules this world has deceived those outside of God's Spirit by re-defining kindness in a way that ignores, embraces, tolerates, or even condones and applauds what is contrary to the very nature of God. In today's culture, to speak God's truth even in gentleness and with love, is considered to be an act of "hate" because it threatens the conditions and stipulations that have been build around kindness by mankind.
The world demands kindness while cursing and mocking those who choose to live by the loving truth of God. This version of kindness is superficial and caters to the temporary desires of the flesh all while neglecting and oppressing the eternal needs and longings of the soul.
The world demands kindness but with conditions such as approval and condonement of specific movements, agendas, messages, or beliefs. The moment someone questions, challenges, or refuses these conditions, the mantra of "be kind" turns into hostility towards those who refuse to conform.
The world demands kindness but only if the transaction benefits the movement. Once the interaction becomes challenging or even one-sided, no deeper purpose exists and the kindness is retracted.
Such a kindness is driven by fleeting emotions, limited by human experience or logic, and is founded upon self-serving mentalities that cater to the desires of the flesh.
While the "kindness" offered by this world satisfies temporary desires that ultimately sever the soul from life-giving outcomes, the kindness of God
fulfills the deepest longings of the soul by pointing one's desires towards the divine and eternal nature of God.
